Mom’s creativity has been put to the test and we are happy to see multiple artistic manifestations that highlight a desired and proudly assumed pregnancy. The photo sessions of the pregnant women have had a nice rebound and great boom in recent times. Although many devices can produce good images, professional photography, quality and artistically achieved during pregnancy is priceless and also serves as a basis to populate the personal “Social Media” with the beautiful product obtained.

The photo shoot is an unequivocal document of your trip to motherhood and it is a beautiful memory of your pregnant body, of the feeling towards your baby and of the pride of your presence, the period is short and a nice picture of the great changes determined by the Pregnancy indicates commitment, family union, couple’s love, happiness.

When do the photographic session?

We usually recommend photography starting at week 26 of pregnancy (beginning of the third and last trimester) but before reaching the end, weeks 37-40.

In week 26 the tummy is small, round and of a size large enough to make it clear that it is a pregnancy, the woman is not swollen (due to edema) and some cutaneous changes are not yet so marked: the chloasma gravidarum, the line abdominal black, striae and umbilical protrusion, are not yet clearly evident. The patient feels well, has no joint discomfort and can assume static positions without difficulty. In thin patients the abdomen is quite visible and some of our patients begin their photographic documentation this week, coinciding, by the way, with the 3D-4D ultrasound of the fetal face, achieving beautiful baby-mother integrations

After week 30 the abdominal bulge is unequivocal and from this week until 36 the period is established where photographic sessions are most frequently carried out. There are certain physiological changes that can be annoying to the final image of the patient (facial or ankle edema, skin color changes -linea nigra, gravidarum chloasma-, umbilical protrusion and gravid striae) but can be corrected with some makeup, lighting effects and the use of resources that obstruct the vision of certain changes that we do not want to be visible (flowers, clothes, toys).

My recommendations

Consider the photo shoot between weeks 26 and 36

Avoid the positions where you are lying on your back for a long time to avoid hypotension

To reduce inflammation of the ankles, you can elevate the legs before the session so that the accumulated fluid disperses

You can use makeup to modify annoying skin changes

You can paint the hair, there is no medical evidence that contraindicates the use of hair dyes during pregnancy.
