What a beautiful baby!
Carjhonaikerjulifred!
Ahh … and is it male or female?
Here the problems begin!
The name is forever
I have many reasons to write this article, I do not intend to insult or question family beliefs or their idiosyncrasies, but as a doctor who takes care of your baby during pregnancy I wanted to extend my preventive authority with a very sensitive issue, the selection of the baby’s name, “Because in many Spanish-speaking countries we tend to name babies as if they were dolls or babies forever” and can ruin or at least complicate lives, with an inappropriate name.
The name is the letter of introduction of the person, the child, the future adult and professional. The first impact of the name must be positive and must comply with certain characteristics that allow it to avoid previous judgments, discrimination and / or elimination a priori as a candidate in a work or social position. The name must be clear and must identify the gender without a doubt.
There are serious studies that show that the name is associated with personal and professional success. My idea is to give you evidence of why the selection of the name is something very serious and that it should be impartial and away from certain customs of the family in favor of the best possible future for the new member of the family and society.
Let’s see the available evidence and then I will give you the best and most varied suggestion of successful names and their interpretation and meaning.
So, what’s in the baby’s name?
Probably his future!
We have always observed that the name is associated, to a certain extent, with social extraction and in general terms, the lower the socioeconomic status, the greater the tendency to assign names to the baby as a result of mixtures of names or neologisms (words invented by the person without any orthographic rule) with unrestricted use of consonants and vowels in a complex manner; In other instances, and due to the success of some singer or football star, the name of the baby has been assigned as the baby’s name. You want to give the baby a unique identity but end up creating a devalued clone of the original.
There have been publications (New York University study, Marquette University study, Shippensburg University study) that have dealt with the issue from the statistical and psychological point of view, evaluating the association of the name with personal success and other factors such as immediate interpretation (prior judgment ) that a person does when presented to someone else, here are the most relevant conclusions:
- If your name is easy to pronounce people will take you more into account, and you will be more likely to have a better position in your work simply because people like what you can remember and understand more easily.
- If you have a common or recognized name, you are more likely to be hired even with candidates with more experience but less favorable names.
- Most people associate recognizable names with respect or at least without surprise, much better than generating confusion or confusion, even laughter
- Unfortunately, studies have also shown that unconventional names are associated with juvenile delinquency, not that the name makes them such but the relationship exists, and in Spanish-speaking countries it is almost a joke to talk about a robbery or assault and mention a weird or compound name
- If you have a name that sounds strong or noble you have more chance of having higher positions
- Boys with girls ‘or girls’ names have more problems at school, they may have to defend themselves more and fight often.
- The names are associated with previous experiences in the interlocutor and as the most common names are frequently seen in heroes, gallants and successful people it is likely that the psychological association favors the bearer
- Composite names and no logical pattern are difficult to remember and much more difficult to write, this can cause problems when obtaining legal documents and lead to the creation of abbreviated nicknames, no one will remember your real or complete name
- Unintelligible names are most often associated with an environment of low educational / socieconomic level and can stigmatize the bearer
My impressions
Do not let them call them their whole life by a nickname, nobody will really know what their real name is and even at the time of death they will have to put the nickname in the obituary to know who the deceased is.
In a globalized world it may be convenient to use names that can be pronounced without problems in Spanish, English, French…
Avoid using names of celebrities, much less if they are from other latitudes.
Never make word games with names, sounds fun at first but a baby can not grow into adult life under a black mood that can affect their life.
Think about this, it’s very important, your baby-son will stop being one some day and eventually he/she will be an adult, a role model. In a world as competitive as ours, we must give our children the best tools not to impose limitations on them from birth.
I tried to make a database with names but I decided to expand the horizons and here is my suggestion to find many beautiful and original names for children .

These names were chosen because, besides being easy to pronounce, learn, write and remember, they can be pronounced in several languages without major problems; these names work very well in Spanish, English, French, German and Dutch. Another gain is that they can be dictated and written without errors since they are easy to write, that diminishes or eliminates considerably the error during the writing of official documents.
I thought it was interesting
- If the surnames are long, it may be convenient to use a single short name.
- If the surnames are short you may want to use a short name to present yourself with your name and your two surnames, that gives impetus to the presentation.
- If you only have one last name, it is convenient to use a mixture of 2 short names to give out the phrase of the name and its surname.
- In the globalized world a second name is often used and only a surname is mentioned, in fact it gives a certain weight to refer to oneself in that way in the Anglo-Saxon countries.
